I decided to enter the world of programming in late-2014 after I was challenged to try programming for 1 month. Within a week of the challenge, I fell in love. Since then, I have become an Instructor and Chapter Leader of my local Girl Develop It. I currently work as a teaching assistant for Skillcrush's HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, Sinatra, and Rails courses. I completed a coding bootcamp called The Firehose Project. After completing the program, I was asked to serve as an Ambassador and help other students with problems in their code. In May 2016, I will have completed my 14 week apprenticeship with CodeNewbie.
I come from a long history of customer service positions in the healthcare field. I made the switch to technology because I crave challenges and mental stimulation. I also love learning and I'm excited that I get to work in a field that encourages and supports that love. I'm always striving to hit another "woohoo" moment and I frequently do happy dances. I work hard but I never forget to laugh (and make others laugh).
When I'm not working or volunteering, you can find me out walking with my dogs, reading, or playing board games with friends (RoboRally and PowerGrid are only the best games ever).
